I've just finished reading one of most amusing (not to mention wonderfully pointless) books that I've ever had the distinct pleasure of reading. "Confederacy of Dunces", which was written by John Kennedy Toole, tells the story of a fat, lazy, overschooled fellow known as Ignatius Reilly who at the age of thirty is forced to finally off his rear end and get a job.
The story takes place in New Orleans, Louisiana and the cast of characters involved are probably the most unlikely participants you'll ever imagine could take part in such a tale. They range from a vagrant shifter dedicated to the art of sabotage, a police officer forced to don the most abhorid costumes each day to work, to a woman dedicated to teaching her pet bird how to strip her as part of an act.
If you are looking for a great book and you have some time on your hands - I wholeheartedly recommend this book. Trust me you'll enjoy every single second you spend on the venture.
